Nfu-Oh #40

Whoops!!! Wardrobe malfunction!!!

Okay okay. It wasn't a malfunction. I confess. I did it on purpose because I am just so pround of my little nails! They make me so happy! Look how they grow!

I never actually had too much trouble with the growing part. It was more the not breaking part. Now that I keep my nails polished and use strengthening base coats I have a lot less breakage.

On to the polish!

Today I am bringing you an Nfu-Oh nail polish; #40. It is what is called "flakie". It has these thin, opalescent flakes that shine several different colors. Nfu-Oh - #40 is a clear base with flakes from different shades of green to all sorts of shades of blue. It reminds me of the tropical blue ocean and of swimming in a warm, secluded lagoon or cove. It doesn't have the same effect by itself but if it is layered it is out of this world. For these swatches I have it layered over black.

Oh, the magic that is Nfu-Oh

Ozotics Pro 505: Holy Duochrome! I Musta' been Good This Year

I was recently involved in a secret Santa swap and was a very lucky girl! I must have been good this year! My secret Santa lives in Australia, and she very very thoughtfully sent me a major lemming, Ozotics Pro.

Ozotics Pro, from what I have seen, makes the most uh-mazing multichromatic polishes. She sent me 505, and holy cow it is beautiful! I shows colors from a bright glowing dragonfly green, to teal, to royal blue, to purple, to magenta, to amber. It is so stuning. I have a lot of pictures to help you grasp how much you see in this polish. It is so fun to look at. I looked at my hands while wearing this and thought, "Why do I ever have to wear any other polish?" It is that incredible. The only problem with it is that it is a bit sheer, so I layered two coats of it over one coat of Zoya - Pinta, a dark purple creme, and that really made it. Take a look:

I understand that I have just done a very bad thing to you guys. You (unless you're in Australia!) are now going to want this, and it's going to be hard to get! It really isn't that hard, it's just that shipping will be expensive. I believe that this website sells internationally, but you'll have to pay a pretty penny for it. Maybe at least $15. I don't know for sure, I'm just guessing. I am sorry for being so evil!

Essie - Mint Candy Apple, Winter '09

Hello!

Essie's winter collection this year has 3 shades to choose from (or not chose... just get them all!) and they have a candy theme: Lollipop, Rock Candy and Mint Candy Apple. The one that I really wanted was of course the green one! I was actually nervous about it because I didn't know if maybe it would be to blue, or too pastel and look really stark. But it did not disappoint me! I love it. It's green, and bright and gorgeous! I have been on a major kick lately to get MAC-Peppermint Patti, which is of course next to impossible and I keep failing so I have to find other mint greens to quell the want.

I was wondering, though, about the existence of an actual mint candy apple. It seemed to me more that Essie wanted a green, so they made up some kind of candy that would be green. Although, there are a whole lot of other green candies to pick from.

I had to know if such a thing existed. And whattaya know, I found it!

It's called a "Green Mint Drizzle Apple" and you can find it on Christina's Candy Apples.

That website looks dangerous. They also have Snickers and Oreo candy apples:
I'm in trouble! Can't. control. the. sweet. tooth....

New From Nicole by OPI

Hello all and HAPPY FRIDAY! I am super excited today because I am going to the train station right from work and going away to Michigan with a friend for the weekend! I won't be doing my nails so I have on a color that I will love for that long and it's Illamsqua - Whack, the best. orange. ever. Whoa. And you know how I love orange!

Today I bring you a new color from Nicole by OPI. It's Let's Get Star-ted. It's not really a color. It's a clear top coat with glitter and stars!

The stars are purple and do glint a prismatic effect at different angles and the glitter is a pink/blue/green iridescent. The application is okay. I tried to just paint two coats and see how it did without me trying to get the stars and that worked fine, and if any were in an undesirable spot I would move them and if I wanted more after 2 coats then I would fish them out.

This photo is of Let's Get Star-ted over Essie- Mesmerize.

Have a great weekend!

Margaritas! Ole!

There was a post I did a little while ago that was a little weird. It was the "glitter-trimmed" (I made this up) nails. Remember? No? Here is the original post. Well you guys and your comments got me thinking! And you know what happens when I think! Stuff like this:

I made margaritas!!! I painted the tips of my nails with a nice yellow-green, Santee - Melon Green, then I drew the glasses with Migi Nail Art pen in white, and I used Color Club - Sexy Siren to make salt on the rims!! I tried to add limes, but they just looked like green blobs of polish. Next I may make strawberry daquiris....hmmm

FLASHBACK: Color Club Glitter Vixen

I just love to post swatches in sets! I couldn't wait to post this one because it is an incredible collection, and I actually have the whole set. I just had to get them all. I didn't at first. I only had 4. But then I went back and got the rest. I couldn't help it!

This is the Fall 2008 collection from Color Club: Glitter Vixen. What a release! All super glitters! Full coverage, beautiful glitters! Love. What I really like about these is that the polish may be one solid color, but the glitter particles are all different shades and sizes, giving added depth. These are all colored glitter in a clear base. They are very dense and gritty to the touch. This means they need a thick top coat to be smooth, and it also means they are a bit difficult to remove. Just use acetone remover and let it soak in and removal won't be so bad.

Let us take a look at some swatches, shall we?!

Sex Symbol - Silver Glitter. Very sexy.

Magic Attraction - Silver holographic/prismatic glitter mixed with pink glitter. I don't think the pink pieces are holo, but I can't really tell!

Art of Seduction - Red glitter. Hott!

Tru Passion - Purple glitter. I would like this more if it was darker, but it's still pretty.

Sexy Siren - Bright, blue glitter. I drool when I see this.

Object of Envy - Grass, green glitter. Much brighter and prettier in real life, I promise!

Sultry Diva - Gold glitter

Although this is an older collection it is still readily available on Victoriasnailsupply.com, head2toebeauty.com and 8ty8beauty.com

Lacquer Laine's Ode to Orange

I love orange. A lot. I don't know what it is but I think it really compliments my nails. Maybe I just like the pop it gives. It just works. So I have been sporting a whole slew of orange lately. I have still been mixing it up of course or else I would be bored and I do not want to get sick of my beloved oranges. Here are a few of them:

Color Club - Tangerine Scream - I wore this to a Syracuse football game. Being that they are the "Orangemen", this got a lot of attention.

Color Club - Wild and Willing - I love this shimmery burnt orange duochrome. It flashes green, yellow and a rose gold. The only problem with it is that it needs 4 coats.

Misa - Speed of Life

L'Oreal - Sizzling Tangerine

LA Colors - Shock

OPI - Totally Tangerine

Petites - Passion Orange

Claire's - Orange Neon

China Glaze - Orange Marmalade - I love the glass fleck shimmer. It does settle though so you have to mix well before you use it. And it's pretty thin. I needed 3 or 4 coats.

Santee - Neon Orange

OPI - Hungary For My Honey

LA Colors - Force

Cosmo - Bus Route #1 -I love this bizarre neon yellow-orange. It looks like a bus! Or a neon yellow street sign.

Sinful Colors - Courtney Orange

What do you think of orange nail polish?
