Green NOTD

Yay! I found some pics today of a mani I haven't shown you! It was my first try at using painter's tape, and cutting the painter's tape with wacky craft scissors. I can not take credit for this genius idea. That came from The Hungry Asian.

I started with a base of NYX-Lime Sparkle. I used Kae's trick and cut the painter's tape cut into strips with a cool patterned edge with craft scissors. I put down the tape diagonally and painted half the nail dark green with Sinful Colors- San Francisco. I wanted to add cobras with plate M28 and white polish, but the white was not picking up well for some reason no matter what I did, and the green did, so I used green, but it didn't stand out very well. (Click for the enlarged pic. You can see the cobra better. It's on the ring finger)

Cool non the less!

Lippmann 10 Year Anniversary Collection Teaser

Hello Ladies! I feel like crap today. Anyone else?
I have the new Lippmann Collection 10 Year Anniversary Set to swatch and review for you. However, my camera is still gone *wahhhh!* so I can not do decent swatches. I am bringing you teaser pics of the bottles and my NOTD in Superstar, but please remember: the camera I used is very old. It is only 3.2 megapixels compared to my usual 10.1 without the macro and super-macro settings. Sooooo.... these pics suck. The polishes: BEAUTIFUL. And the very second I get my camera back in my hands, I will swatch them immediately and will post them for you. But for now, this is all I have. I have however, seen swatches on Scrangie, All Lacquered Up, The Nailphile and Vampy Varnish.

Bottles: Ruby Red Slippers, Funky Chunky, Superstar

On me: Superstar

I apologize for the pathetic pics. I just wanted to post something! Cross your fingers my camera gets back to me soon! It hasn't even been a full week! I am going to lose it!

Sinful Colors - Part 2

I am glad the Sinful post was well received, because I have more!! Today i bring part 2 of the series. Maybe one day I will have a part 3, but for now this will be it.

Dancing Nails - (Shade and then sun pics) This is a warm pink metallic with a shimmer too! Very pretty. Look how it glimmers in the sun! It's beautiful. I wish they had more colors with this finish. I had to leave this one in New York with my sister because she loved it so much! Not a big deal... I can always get another for...$2!!

Rich in Heart - (Sun and then Shade) I think the name of this one is really weird, but the polish is to die for. Vampy and dark but look what the light brings out of it? I fine, red shimmer. When I saw this in the store I thought it was a dark brown until I swatched it. Can't take your eyes off this one.

San Francisco - Looooove this color. I think this pic is not as accurate as in real life. It's more amazing and magical in real life. This one has a bitch drying time though. Even with Seche Vite. I don't know how that is possible. Just have to be careful not to dent it for a while, but I think it's worth it.

Show me the Way - AAAhhh! I love this color. It makes me feel okay that I don't have the amazing, elusive China Glaze - Moonpool. This is probably better. I love a dirty green and this has that glass-fleck shimmer too. It is a thief of hearts.

And now some glitter! :c)

Hottie - Shown over black and alone. This is a sheer blue, with large hex glitter and smaller, round-square glitter that is iridescent and mostly show colors of red, green and blue. HOTT!!! It is a hottie. I only got this a few weeks ago. I ignored her for so long because I didn't think I cared for glitter, or for sheers. I was wrong!!! Look at that layered shot!! Crazy. Note: this is shown without a topcoat, so it looks a bit rough, but this glitter looks very thin, so I'm sure that a coat of SV would even it out nicely.

Out of this World - Shown over black and alone. I got this one because it reminded me of Milani-Glitzy Stars. It is similar. I think Milani's flashes more color, but this is beautiful because it is so dense and such a fine glitter/shimmer. It is like very finely ground glass (if you wanted to grind glass finely...that might be weird) The pic is only 1 coat. Now that I say that I wish I did two to show you the comparison of two and one. S**t.

Paris - Shown alone and over Rich in Heart. This is a smaller particle gold glitter and covers nicely in two coats. This is another that had to stay in New York for the other sister!

Sinful Colors - Part 1

I wanted to do a post of some of my Sinful Colors. They are great because they have fun, bold colors and they are readily available at drugstores and only cost $2! Very cool. I have gone out of my way on the way to work many times to pick up a new Sinful or two since I can just get them at Walgreen's.

Cream Pink - Bright, almost neon, pink. It does dry a wee bit matte too. It's lovely because it is bright and interesting, without being too neon. It is just right. I wore this around Christmas time, and my nails were real long, and I had just gotten a new opal ring which really popped against this color, and my boyfriend said it was the best manicure he had ever seen on me! Cool! I must note however, this bottle is very old. I have had it for more years than I can remember, and I have seen Cream Pink lately in stores and it is not the same. It is the same basic shade, but my bottle has a light, gold shimmer and the new one does not. boo.

Fusion Neon - Super bright, neon pink. Dries matte and is a typical chalky neon. It is hot though! I don't believe this is in the usual display rack, but it has been released recently and is in Sinful's Neon Nights display.

Sugar Sugar - Glowy red shimmer. I had to have a glowy red shimmer one day, and I found this was just what I needed. Sorry for the dark looking pic, it's just that the sunshine pic was not color accurate. It showed it way lighter than it really is. My camera does that too reds for some reason.

Irish Green - This color was released around St. Partick's Day, however it is also in stores now in the Neon Nights Collection. It is a jelly-ish neon green and dries only semi-matte. It's about impossible to get this without VNL, but it's still pretty and worth having.

Dream On - This is one of my fave polishes. I was just looking at it today and realized I have to go get a new one as I am half done with it. Super neon purple. More neon than the pic depicts. It dries very matte and is awesome! I have used it for several frankens (to be released as soon as I get my camera back!) which explains why it's so low. It's a very sweet polish.

Courtney Orange - When I swatched this I remembered why I have only half a bottle left. I used this A LOT! I forgot that I loved it so. This is another that I have had forever, but is still available, and does not appear to have had a formula change. It is a beautiful, bright orange with a golden yellow shimmer and is to die for. I can't believe this is a $2 polish.

Camera Problems

I am just writing to inform you guys of some bad news. It appears as though my camera has a problem. The flash won't always fire when it's supposed to. So I brought it to Best Buy since I have a service plan. They had to send it out and said it could take 2 to 3 weeks to get it back. *sobs*
I have a few things I can still post, but no new pics will be taken. This will back me up, but worse than that is that I won't have new posts for a while. Worse than that, is that I will probably lose my mind. My camera is part of me. It may be more important to me than NP. I don't know how I am going to make it. Well, I'm not! AND... I just did probably the best mani of my life. It's Misa - Pour Me Something Tall & Strong and I painted perfectly, and my cuticles are gorgeous. And I can't show you.
:c(
Just imagine. ** (<---stars)

Orange Fest!

So I have to start with: I LOVE ORANGE! I haven't for a while, but the love is back. Perhaps it is the summer. i don't know, but suddenly I love orange polish and have bought several. I also love NEON orange polish. It is I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E!

I posted this great 2/3 - 1/3 mani idea I had with neon oranges a while back, but never got a chance to wear it out. I just tried it quick at home and took it off. Since last week I was on vacation, I thought it would be a perfect time to rock it.

I started with a base of OPI-Alpine Snow. Then did 1/3 of the nail with the yellow-orange neon from Hot Topic that is called Marigold on their website, however I call it Tangello. Then did the remaining 2/3 in Sally Girl - Amped and finished it off with orange fishnets stamped with Konad plate M57 and L'Oreal - Sizzling Tangerine. One of my fave manis ever!!

NYX - Glitters

I swatched my NYX glitter polishes. I received them a million years ago, but I always wanted to swatch and post them as a set. So here they are! This is however, not all the glitters that NYX has. Just the ones that I have. I should have received another one that never came now that I think of it. Hopefully it will show up one day!Lime Sparkle - Lime jelly polish with green glitter. I love the concept of this one, but I don't think it was very flattering on me. 3 coats. EDIT: This is listed on NYX website as "Simple Sparkle". When I first saw it, it was Lime Sparkle. When I got around to ordering it, it was call Simple Sparkle. However, the bottle came labeled Lime Sparkle. So don't be scared if you can't find it.

Dark Red Glitter - Easy naming! I don't think it's that dark, however. Red jelly with red glitter and silver, holo glitter. This is three coats.

Silver Blue - More easy names! Silver round glitter and blue bar glitter. I believe this was two coats.

Asphalt - Black jelly with gold, red, blue, green and silver glitter. It's like birthday confetti! I love it! This is definitely my fave. I was soooo amazed at what I discovered when I shot it macro. The glitter is actually square! I had no clue! For months! I thought it was round this whole time!! And there is also itty-bitty microscopic round glitter pieces too! Impressive. This is 3 coats.

What do you think? Sparkly, no?

Last Minute NY Buys

Hello! Before I left from my parents on Sunday I decided to do a little last minute shopping. I checked CVS for any interesting stuff, and Claire's because my Claire's here never seems to have anything good. Take a look at what I found:
Milani - Antique, Claire's - Green Confetti, Goldmine, Rockstar and Orange Neon

(Make sure to click on the pics for the enlarged size! :c) )
Sun

Shade

Goldmine is definitely my favorite. I have had CND-VIP Status on my wishlist but it is hard to find, and this looks just the same. Check out this close up:Huh?! Awesome right!?

Independence Day/Surprise Party Nails

How was everyone's holiday? I had the whole past week off, and today is the first day back to work. I don't know what I am supposed to be doing!
The pic on the left was my plan for my 4th of July mani, but I didn't have a chance to do them until late on the 4th when I got home from being out with my family. I planned to do it anyway and wear it yesterday, but it didn't really work out as planned. This was the best nail of the bunch. I used Milani - Red to Tango, OPI - Alpine Snow, and Essie - Mesmerize to stamp with. I need a better blue to stamp for this. And I used Konad plate M44.

I did however, have a pretty good 4th mani from the night before. I did my nails for a surprise party for my friend's birthday with LA Girls - Rockstar as a base, and then added LA Girls - Supernova, and my new Jesse's Girl - Confetti.(click for the large size!)
(Close up of my thumb)

Looks like fireworks, so I guess that my 4th mani was festive after all!

Jesse's Girl Nail Polish Swatches

I don't have Rite Aid in Chicago (boo) but I do in New York, so I went to see what I could find and was surprised by a brand I never heard of before: Jesse's Girl. They had all kinds of pretty cosmetics, but I of course was only concerned with the nail polish! I picked up 5:
Cherry
Garnet
Gunmetal
Magenta

Confetti

All the polishes have simple, self-explanatory names. Not very exciting, but at least to the point.

Cherry - Pinkish red shimmer. Very shimmery

Garnet - Burgundy creme. Not too dark. Very pigmented.

Gunmetal - Gray shimmer. This one was the only that I felt needed 3 coats.

Magenta - Magenta shimmer. Cool, bright and shimmery.

Confetti - Blue and purple bar glitter in a clear base. Applies smooth and even.

I thought all of these had great application. The formula was smooth and easy to work with. The colors are nice and the shimmers are very shimmery! I love the bottle, but the square top can be a little difficult to brush with. Not to worry: You can pop off the top for a small, round handle if you prefer:

This was a wonderful introduction to Jesse's Girl cosmetics. They can be found at Rite Aid stores and at jessesgirlcosmetics.com
On the website I discovered even more polishes than I saw in the store.
They retail for $2.99
