"New" Sinful Colors

I say "new" with quotes because at the time I got them they weren't really very new in terms of when they were released. But they were new to me. But now about 5 weeks have gone by since I bought them, so they are really not new!

Hot Spot - I showed you guys this one before but it had glitter on it. Now we can look at it alone. This is is a deep indigo shimmer with small, sparse, cobalt blue shimmer that isn't very shimmery, but it is in there.

Neon Melon - This is one hell of a neon yellow. You know how with most neon pics I have to give a disclaimer about how it is much more neon in real life? Well, this one is more neon in real life, but the pic does do a decent job of capturing it. This shade is very, very neon. I have lots of favorite neon yellows, but this one flew way up on the list. The only problem with it is it is extremely thin. There is no point in even attempting to wear it alone. It will never be opaque enough. BUT the great thing about neons is that you can layer them over white, which is what I did here. This is two coats of Neon Melon over white creme. SUPER BRIGHT!

All Mighty - This is a very pretty aqua/teal shimmer. It isn't terrible unique; as I put it on it reminded me a lot of OPI - Yodel Me On My Cell. I do love the formula of this. 2 coat dream.

Thimbleberry - I was hot and horny for this one a while back when I heard it was a dupe for MAC - Scorcher. I really love this bright coral, but I also found it was a close dupe to China Glaze - High Hopes so I guess not that necessary to my collection. But still pretty.

Gorgeous - WHEW. This one takes my breath away. This is a intense, metallic turquoise that is almost chrome in finish. That alone I love, but at the edges or at an angle it has a bright blue, aqua duochrome. This shade is very mermaid-y. I think it may be a close dupe to Sephora by OPI - Mermaid to Order, but I don't have it to compare. I will just stick to my $2 Sinful. *LOVE*

Besides for the neon which we all know are not typically two coats, these are all two coats. I have said it before, but I will say it again: Sinful Colors has stepped their game up. They usually get a bad rap for being sheer, but these are well pigmented beauties. Not only were they two coats, but the formula was perfect to work with. Sinful is one of my absolute favorite brands ever!!

Nails and Toes of the Day

I redid my nails AND toes last night and I am loving them both so much I thought I would share.

This my mani for today. All day yesterday I was planning on either painting with a green franken I made a while ago, or MAC's newest release, Blue India. Well I had a package waiting for me in the mail and it screamed, "Put me on now!!" This is OPI - DS Glamour and it is the prettiest damn thing I have ever seen! This is a medium to dark indigo holo. Oh so pretty! In low light it looks like denim but it the sun, watch out! This is on fire!


This is the pedi I did on myself. Cute, right? I think this is the first time I have put rhinestones on my toes! It's not too bad! This is a new shade from Diamond cosmetics I showed you here, Tranquility. I then stamped the flowers with Konad plate M21 and Konad special polish in white and green. Lastly I added the little green rhinestone to the center and added topcoat. So fun!

Laine's Favorite Blue Nail Polish and Why You Don't Use Remover To Thin Polish

One of the most important tips I have learned on this nail-polish obsessed voyage I have been on, is what to do about a thick, lumpy, or dried out nail polish. You thin it. How do you thin it? With a nail polish thinner/reviver. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, USE NAIL POLISH REMOVER!

I had to learn this on my voyage. But before I learned, I too, tried to thin my polish with nail polish remover.

At the beginnings of my polish collecting, I started small. I hit only 1 new polish a week or so. But I must go back even further, to when Sephora opened at the mall near my parents house in New York. While home for Thanksgiving I went to check it out and saw the most amazing nail polish color. It was blue and deep but also sort of neon. It was amazing. And out of stock. So I forgot about it for the most part, but for the next year when I would go visit my parents I would hop into Sephora to see if they had it. They didn't. Ever. So last year around Christmas I went in and tried to order it, but they were so busy it would have taken hours. The sales associate suggested I come back another day. So I did and they didn't even have the tester so I had a hard time explaining what I was looking for. Well it was okay because they found it for me and I was so excited, I bought 2 bottles. Why not, right? If I need it this bad, I am probably going to need a back up! So this was the beginning of the end! My passion for finding unique and interesting colors had begun!

I was thrilled to receive my new, blue love. But I was not aware that the formula of Sephora's nail polish is not so great. The application was pretty horendous. It was so thick and streaky and it felt like it was dry. I couldn't get enough polish on the brush and I couldn't get on my nail. Ugh. So I thought, "I'll add a little nail polish remover to thin it". FAIL. Take a look at my 2 bottles of my adored Sephora blue (whose name is "Myrtille" although they don't put in on the bottle. It's only Myrtille on the website):


Yeeeaahhh... soooooo....... my bad? Yes. Very bad. The one on the left was spared my horrible idea of thinning with NP remover, but sadly the one on the right has done this amazing, science project, decomposing, separating thing over the past year and turned into Myrtille and a milky substance of some sort. Ewwww. So learn from me. Don't use NP remover to thin polish. NP remover is designed to break down polish. The ingredients in it are not found in the nail polish you are sabbotaging with it.

Now since you were so patient, here is a pretty swatch of my beloved, out of the good bottle:

Myrtille - A deep, semi-neon, indigo. Gorgeous! This swatch is pretty close, but in real life it is a drop darker and a drop more purple. AND this went on nicely since I thinned it appropriately with Poshe Nail Polish Reviver.
