Amour - Rainbow Hologram

Have you ever seen the Amour polishes on Transdesign.com that claim to have some sort of awesome reflection?Photo courtesy of Trans Design

This is what the site says about these polishes:
The special formula contains Titanium dioxide platelets of precisely controlled thickness reflects gold, red, green or blue by interference . . .and transmit the respective complementary colors. Deposited on mica for reinforcement . . . combined with colors pigment to introduce intensity, contrast and extraordinary color play.
Instructions:
Step 1: Apply black polish to the free edge.
Step 2: Allow polish to dry, apply color effect polish to the entire surface of the nail.
Step 3: Apply top coat

I didn't really think these would be anything out of this world but I had to get one to be totally sure. I was right. A bought Rainbow Hologram and swatched it over a black tip just like it said.

It's really just a shimmery sheer with iridescence. It is not special in any way. This black tip thing looks weird too. I am not a fan.

What do you think?

Have a great day!

  1. I'm not a fan either. Nice you did the testing for me, I wanted to order one Amour polish when I placed an order again. It doesn't seem that special to me.

  2. The black doesn't look black, but blueish or purple? Is it the picture, or is it just me? :D

Thanks for testing, I won't be ordering this.. :)

  3. It looks like a sheer with holo glitter. :(

  4. Michelle - Happy to help. I figure I should spread the word so you guys don't waste money.

Daph - The black is very very black, but the iridescent shimmer is what makes it looks blue/purple.
    You're welcome!

    Evil Angel - Exactly. :c(

  5. I think it's a pretty end result, but nothing revolutionary. Sort of remind me of the CND colour&effect topcoats.

  8. Thanks for the post. Would love to see this over other creme colored polish.
I think CND might have taken the idea from Amour? Cuz it does what it says it does...just like CND Effects does.
If you're in to Layering, it's definitely the less expensive way to go. They just aren't marketing it as well as CND. I might check these out and skip the CND ones all together!

  11. I've looked at these before. It's kind of obvious in a way, duh if I put black on the tip it will change the color of the polish on that part.

  12. I really do not like Amour polish at all. I have not tried this type from them, but I probably will not either. It is just not worth my money. I really kind of hate them. lol

  13. lol - I fell prey to this polish aswell, and ended up with the same results. I got a different color, but I posted about it on my blog. I had a big case of the blahs with it.

  14. Thanks for checking that out, I was wondering, too. I have plenty of holo and sparkly polishes so I'll just use them. By the way, here in North Phoenix (in Arizona) the dark tips are extremely popular here.

  15. Wow, very unimpressive polish :-/

The only dark French tip I've ever seen and really liked was one Nail Junkie did recently with China Glaze Fairy Dust over the tips and simple white Konad flower overlapping the nail bed and free edge (I don't want to link to it because I haven't asked her permission and she might not like it). I've got to say I'm generally not a fan either, though :)
