Nailene Artifical Nails Review

Hello all! I received some Nailene nails to review for you all and I really can't get them on without looking really dumb or without filing down my nails (which I am not willing to do) because my natural nails are longer than the press-ons. There is an exception to the rule, however, with my left index finger. This poor thing keeps having ridiculous breaks so it is shorter than everyone else. He just can't get on the same page. And I'm not left handed! I would think the right hand would have issues, but no. It's too bad too because I think my left index is my favorite when grown and shaped properly. (Yes, I have favorite individual nails! *Is weirdo*)

Anyway, these looked so cool I thought I would try on one on the lame nail to model for you. The style is "Starry Sky" and I really like these. They have a semi-transparent, milky, soft, french pink for the base and the tip is dark blue with bright blue glitter that looks a little iridescent. Really pretty.

There are two more french manicure sets that I have to show you, but I couldn't bear going through more rounds of gluing and soaking so I just have shots off the hands:

These don't have a name just a number: 71000. They are your classic french manicure. I really like the way the white fades away with little dots rather than having a definitive line.

These are style number 77935. Again a classic french, but the base has a sparkly, crystal shimmer which I think is super pretty.

The glue that comes with these is mega strong. You won't have to worry about these nails not hanging on! Once they are on they aren't going to go anywhere!

The one thing I have to stress, and I know I will sound like a broken record: Use 100% acetone to get them off. Please. The glue is like super glue. If you rip them off, you will take your natural nails with it. These will not damage your natural nails if you use them right. Glue them on, wear them for about a week to 10 days tops, and soak, soak, soak in 100% acetone. Regular "acetone nail polish remover" is not strong enough. Get a little bowl, pour some 100% acetone in and soak for several minutes. Try 5 minutes at first, which should be good enough, and then scrape off the nails with an orange stick. They will be like a soft, gooey blob of plastic. If there is any glue still on the nail, soak a cotton ball with the acetone and remove the glue. Please remember this. The box says "soak in acetone remover" to get the nails off, as it seems all fake nail kits do, and that is misleading. Regular remover will not cut it. *end rant*

New Revlon Nails + Giveaway

Hi all! I have had these for far too long! I am so glad to finally post them.

I received some new nails from Revlon to show you. They are colored nails in Revlon Red and Royalty.

Revlon Red

Royalty - These are actually colored gold on the underside to give you an effortless "Lubu mani"! How cool is that?!

Revlon Red - These were a bit smaller than I anticipated. I tried to get them on without having my natural tips peeping out but that made the ring finger end up way high from the cuticle. It looks a bit strange. It's just for swatch purposes. I didn't actually wear them like that!

Royalty - Wow. This is a gorgeous dark plum with a royal purple shimmer. So pretty. They look sort of duochromy. These say they are medium length like the red ones but they are clearly longer. I don't know. And the gold underside would be enjoyable if I didn't have my tips showing. The concept of these is WAY AWESOME but you can really only rock it if you have short nails with very little to no free edge.

Here are some things I must say about these nails:

1. The glue that comes with these is very strong. You don't need to worry about wear time. As long as you want them on, they will stay on.
2. Do not follow the instructions for how much glue to put on. It says to completely cover your natural nail, and the false nail with glue. If you did that you will get glue squeezing out all over the place and end up gluing yourself together and having your mani look like crap. Instead, apply glue to only one of the contact surfaces and I find the best way to do this is fully cover the inner portion, but not go all the way to the edge as the glue will spread out to the edges when you press them down.
3. The package says to soak these nails in acetone nail polish remover to get the nails off. This does not work! Acetone nail polish remover is made up of several other ingredients diluting the power of the acetone and it is not strong enough to dissolve the nails as the box says. You will get frustrated and rip them off, and you will be real sorry. Trust me. I have made this mistake already. LEARN FROM MY MISSTEPS! You need to use 100% acetone to remove these nails. It is not expensive and you can buy it at Sally's Beauty supply or any other nail/beauty supply. Get a little bowl and soak for a minute and they will seriously dissolve. You can use a manicure stick to help scrape them off if needed and if there is any residual glue on the nail you can get it off with a cotton ball and the acetone. I know acetone is drying, but this is what you need to do. Just wash it off your hands immediately and moisturize.

Several Revlon Runway Collection Designs

I had some new Revlon Runway Collection artificial nails to show you. Since I had 5 new designs besides the style I showed here, I thought "5 nails, 5 fingers... Skittle time!"


Minx - Isn't this pretty?! It's a white tip with black stripes and sliver glitter line


Mystic - Garnet tip with black line and white dots with rhinestone. I love Mystic because not every nail has a rhinestone. Only the "middle finger" sizes, in the whole sizes. So like, 7, 6 and 5 maybe. It makes for a cool look with just a few stones. I really like this one.


Starlet - This is a very pretty sliver glitter french tip



Sateen - I think this one may be my fave!! Pink metallic tip with flowers and a black glitter line and red double line!! Love it!


Studio - Silver funky french with thin black stripes.


I wrote in the last post that I had an issue with the sizing, and the removal.

For the sizing, there are only 2 of every size, 1-9 with 5.5, 6.5 and 7.5. I did 2 on the thumb, 9 on the pinky, and for the middles, I used what fit best, with the largest on the middle, the next size on the first finger, and the smallest on the ring finger. I believe it went, 5.5, 6, 6.5, or 5.5, 6.5, 7? I really don't remember. But using the largest on the middle and smallest on the ring gave the best look.

The sizing gripe I can get over, but one thing I must say is that I wish that the removal directions said to use 100% acetone. Instead they say "soak in acetone nail polish remover". That to me signifies that the remover I use daily to remove polish is good enough to remove fake nails, and it is not!!! I tried. FAIL. I then tried a nail remover tub with scrubby brushes to help the remover, and that was better, but still took a while, as it was not 100% acetone. I then accidentally spilled the tub, so i refilled it with 100% acetone I picked up at Sally's Beauty Supply and it was miraculous how quickly those things and the glue came off! Couple minutes and they were seriously melted. Just as the box said they would. I have no fears of using these thanks to 100% acetone. Good s*it.

And one more gripe, actually, if I may: I wish that it didn't say to use so much glue. The directions say to use glue on the natural nail and also the artificial nail. Don't do it. That is too much glue and it gets everywhere. Just use on one or the other, but do make sure to cover completely so that you have no air pockets. If you use a thin layer, but spread it all over before you press down, that should work best.

Now that I know they can come off so easily, I'd say they are good for a night or for a whole week. I wore them for a whole week. They stay on that long. Maybe longer if you wanted. It didn't seem like they wanted to go anywhere!

Pretty Revlon "Press-Ons"

Today I am bringing you some blingy nails! I tried out a set artificial nails by Revlon.

They are a french manicure set from the Runway Collection with this great silver sparkle design on the tips. I am a big fan of this design!

Now I pretty much never wear fake nails so this is not really my territory. I am not a hater. I just like my real nails. I haven't put on a set in years. What I can remenber from those early days of press-ons is that they didn't really hold up very well. I expected this to snap off in an hour. I put them on Friday night before I went out and they made it the whole weekend! Every single one of them. I didn't attmept to start taking them off until Monday night, and that is only because my violin lessons are on Tuesdays. I don't think my instructor would be pleased! He always has to keep my nail length in check! I try to go as long as I can. Anyway, if I didn't have to take them off, I wouldn't have. I loved them. They made it through showers, dish washing, scrubbing the tub, and all. Very impressive. You know how when you glue a nail on you are very aware of the fact that they are there? You feel that tug on your real nail from the glue? Well I didn't notice it after a day. I forgot entirely that I had on fake nails. Which is impressive because they are long! And they don't have that thick acrylic problem. They are thin and can be used for scratching! And I love this design! Did I mention that yet?! It took my focus frequently. My only gripe is that the middle sizes needed a few extra. There are 2 nails in each size from 0 to 9, with a 5.5 and a 6.5. I used a 3 on the thumb, 9 on the pinky's and the middle fingers had to fight for the rest! I could have used more 6 and 6.5s. The 5.5 got by since it had to, but I used a 5 on the middle and I felt it was too big. I'm going to try again and try to alter the arrangement. Even if I think it was too big it still looks okay, huh? And they held up fine. Check out how real that looks!:
If you try these out don't use as much glue as they say. The directions say to put glue on the fake nail and the real nail, and cover them completely. That is overkill. Choose one or the other, and cover it, but with a thin, thin, layer. THIN! It spreads out when you push it down. Don't use too much. It squeezes out and gets everywhere. I made a mess on the first few, and glued myself together and glued myself to a nail or two. I'm really clumsy, by the way.

With that said, also don't use too little. after my messes I then overcompensated on reducing my glue and didn't use enough and you can tell:See how the glue is in the middle and not around the outside? If these were opaque I would have been able to hide my flub, but they are transparent so it showed.

Now for the removal. I don't know if it's me or what, but this did not go well. The directions say to soak in acetone nail polish remover and they will dissolve. Scrangie also said the same on her post about these nails, and she has put up swatches since that post and her nails look great. Mine however, don't look too good. I soaked and soaked, but they did not dissolve. So I used the manicure stick that came with the nails to nudge around the outsides and soaked some more, and repeated until I was finally just pulling them off. I don't know if I am not patient enough, but I started this morning around 615 and didn't finish until 715. That seems like plently soaking to me. But like I said, this is not my territory so I could be wrong. I know what you're thinking: "are you sure it was acetone remover?" Yup. It was. I don't get it. The remover was a generic store brand that I bought because it was 2 for 1, so maybe that was the problem. I would like to try again with different glue and maybe also different remover. I will let you know how that turns out. I hope I don't discourage you guys with my removal tale, just be aware. If you are a regular with fake nails then I'm sure you'll be fine. They are gorgeous and I want them back! Maybe it would have been better if I kept them on longer too. I was forced to take them off after only a few days for my violin. If you can keep them on for a week or so they may let go easier.
