Woo hoo! Sunshine! How about a bright summery mani? :c)
I did a little something with a couple of my brightest, nearly neon, orange shades. I used Kleancolor - Mango and Santee - Neon Orange.
I put on Mango, the lighter of the two, first. Then I painted half the nail diagonally with Neon Orange. If you want to try this and can't get it on neatly, don't worry. I just slapped in on all over to get it where I wanted and cleaned it up later.
Once I had my base colors on I used a dotting tool to get the contrasting dots on either side of the diagonal.
I didn't really consider these neons at first, but now that I have them on they sure look rather neon. They photographed like neons too. They gave me a hard time. The pictures make them look all radioactive and more yellow than it looks in real life. The Kleancolor looks more peach in real life and the Santee looks more red/pink/coral in real life. They look more like the bottle shot above than the on-the-nail pics. I like them in real life more than the pictures. But this was the best I could do. Here is a swatch I did of Santee - Neon Orange a while back:
What do you think?

RAWR!! I love that Santee Neon Orange!!
ReplyDeleteYour ornage mani looks awesome. I think I like it in the photos as an orange. It reminds me of sherbert.
awesome! i'm going to do this as my next mani. currently i've got on hot pink tips with clear polish over the whole nail. -jen
ReplyDeleteThe nail art is subtle enough to work with these outrageously summery oranges. I like it.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the dots on the diagonal. I might try this sometime.
ReplyDeleteGreat!Such a neat subtle work!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of nail art, in fact I don't like glitter that much and many people like "finishing" their looks with glittery tips or details... Well this summery combo is just great for me, because is fun (really bright colour),is bold without being neons (which personally I find childish... but ok, it's my weird opinion) and very classy, because of the geometric design...
And for all those reasons (plus your hands are so good-looking) I just LOVE you!
This is so classy and summery at the same time! I can only imagine all the "tone on tone" colors I have in my stash right now! I have got to try this.

Great colors, unfortunately, I can't pull them off due to my pale skin tone.
ReplyDeleteAre these neon? I have noticed your camera washes colour out a lot, so it is hard to tell the true shade.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really pretty mani, such succulent colours.
ReplyDeleteSkulda - Thanks girl! It definitely looks good enough to eat
ReplyDeleteAnonymous - Great! Glad to inspire! hot pink is hot too!
Kimberly - Thank you! :c)
ANother Bottle of Polish - You should try it! It's an easy but interesting nail art.

Tiffani - I can't even imagine all the awesome combos to do with this design! Start playing and show us!
Scientific Housewife - Aw shucks. Neon orange is so fun!
Anonymous - These definitely appear neon to me. At first I didn't think there were, and they don't dry matte like most neons do, but on the nail I just kept thinking they looked neon. My camera does wash out shades sometimes but I can usually fix it with a little photo editing, but there was no helping these because they just got totally warped in the camera like neons do. :c(
Lolotadewdrop - Thank you girl!
love the contrasting polka-dots!!
